Prop Firm Rule Change Tracker

Futures prop firms change their rules constantly, and most review sites never update. This is a dated, sourced log of confirmed rule changes at the firms we cover, so you can see what changed, when, and whether an existing account is grandfathered. Lucid Trading is fully logged. Five more firms are being backfilled from archived documentation.

How this is maintained: firm documentation and pricing pages are checked daily. Community announcement channels are tracked continuously, since firms usually post there before updating their docs. Every entry below is confirmed against a primary source before publishing. Unconfirmed reports are tracked internally but not listed here, and the ones currently pending are named under the table.

Why prop firm rules change so often

Prop firms are young companies competing hard on terms. When one loosens a consistency rule or raises a profit split, the others follow within weeks. Risk teams also tighten rules when a particular strategy starts costing them money.

The practical consequence: the account you buy today may not operate under the same rules in three months, and a review written six months ago is often describing a product that no longer exists. Two things matter more than most traders realise:

  • Grandfathering. Some changes apply only to new accounts. Resetting an old account frequently moves it onto current terms permanently, which can silently cost you a benefit you were relying on.
  • Direction. Not every change is an upgrade. Firms announce improvements loudly and tighten quietly.

Coverage

Date Accounts What changed Grandfathered Source
All Clarified Help centre updates: Tajikistan restricted, hedging reset, 24-hour cash-out window, refund condition. Tajikistan was added to the restricted countries list. After a first hedging flag the accounts reset to the prior day's balance, and Lucid now states the remaining drawdown is not restored. At move-to-live, traders have 24 hours from the email to choose the cash-out; otherwise the accounts move to live automatically. A funded account that is not eligible to move is refunded only if at least 50% of its drawdown remains. For the repeatable live bonus, payouts taken along the way don't reduce the target, and contract flipping to farm the 20 trading days may lead to review. n/a. Published rules; apply to all accounts. Lucid help centre, Restricted Countries, Prohibited Hedging, New Live Structure, New LucidMaxx Program, all read Oct 12, 2026
Live Better Live bonus: one-time to repeatable. For traders moved live from 5 PM ET, the standard live bonus is earned every time two criteria are met together: live profit equal to the plan's threshold ($2,000 on a 25K, $4,000 on a 50K, $6,000 on a 100K, $9,000 on a 150K) and 20 trading days in live. The bonus ($1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 / $4,500) is paid out at the 90% split. Replaces the one-time bonus, which required only live profit equal to the starting drawdown plus $100. Lucid's help article adds that payouts taken along the way don't reduce the target and that contract flipping to farm days may lead to review. EOD drawdown and all other live rules are unchanged. Lucid's help centre renamed its standard live article Legacy Live Structure the same day; the replacement is the New Live Structure article. How the bonus works. Not stated. Applies from 5 PM ET on Oct 5, 2026. Lucid Discord announcement, Oct 5, 2026 (screenshot on file), Lucid help centre, Legacy Live Structure
Maxx Better LucidMaxx rebuilt. For evaluations bought from 5 PM ET: the evaluation minimum drops from 5 to 3 days; a Pre-live step (Step 2) is added between evaluation and live, with a profit target equal to the max loss limit ($1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 / $4,500), EOD drawdown, no consistency rule and live scaling; the four pricing tiers (up to $680 on a 150K) are replaced by flat promo pricing of $85 / $155 / $220 / $375, reverting to $110 / $180 / $270 / $425 if Lucid judges it unsustainable; there is no cooldown after a blown Pre-live account, while the 2-week cooldown after a blown live account or full cashout stays for now and is under review; live accounts open with a balance equal to the starting drawdown and a static max loss limit of $100, withdrawable from day one, or the trader can pass Pre-live and take that balance as a payout instead; Maxxers become eligible for the repeatable live bonus. Lucid moved the previous Maxx articles into a Legacy section. LucidMaxx explained. Yes. Evaluations purchased before 5 PM ET on Oct 5, 2026 stay on the legacy structure. Flex, Pro, Direct Better Cash-out option at move-to-live: removed to reinstated. Traders reaching move-to-live can decline the live account and take a one-time payout of 50% of their allocated live drawdown at the 90% split. Funded accounts close and a 14-day cooldown begins. Lucid's help centre now gives 24 hours from the move-to-live email to choose; otherwise the accounts move to live automatically. Lucid stresses it is optional and does not affect returning to sim or becoming a Maxxer. Disclosed alongside it: only 18% of live accounts ever receive a payout, 50% are blown in a single day, and the average live account lasts three days. Daily Launch LucidDaily launched as a fourth public plan. Two checkout settings, evaluation drawdown and daily loss limit, produce four configurations. The drawdown choice applies to the evaluation only: funded LucidDaily accounts always use an intraday drawdown. n/a Lucid help centre, Lucid help centre, archived 2026-08-04, Lucid help centre, LucidDaily review
Flex, Pro, Direct Better Payouts required to reach LucidLive: 6 to 5. Lucid's help centre now states traders "may take up to 5 payouts from each LucidFlex account after which they will be moved live", and its new live structure moves Flex, Pro and Direct traders live after their fifth payout. Yes. Accounts purchased or reset on or before Feb 27, 2026 stay on the legacy terms (6 payouts). Lucid help centre, archived 2026-03-30, Lucid help centre, archived 2026-03-30 (now titled Legacy Live Structure), Lucid help centre, archived 2026-02-24
Live Better LucidLive escrow: 60-day escrow to none. Legacy live accounts held part of the capital in escrow, released $5,000 for every $10,000 of additional live profit. New live accounts start at $0, and a trader moved live for the first time may be eligible for a one-time bonus. How LucidLive works now. Yes. Accounts purchased or reset on or before Feb 27, 2026 keep the legacy live terms. Lucid help centre, archived 2026-03-30, Lucid help centre (now titled Legacy Live Structure)
Pro Better LucidPro funded payouts: minimum profit on 5 separate days per cycle to a single profit goal. Lucid's help centre replaced the rule that traders must earn the minimum profit on 5 separate days in each payout cycle with a single minimum profit goal between payouts. The one-day evaluation pass is older: Lucid advertised it by July 2025. Not stated Lucid help centre, archived 2025-12-10, Lucid help centre, archived 2026-03-04
Black Discontinued LucidBlack discontinued. Lucid's help centre moved LucidBlack into a Legacy section by March 30, 2026; it was still sold in mid-January. Reviews still describing LucidBlack as available are out of date. n/a Lucid help centre, archived 2026-03-30, Lucid help centre
Direct Added LucidDirect: $100K account size added. n/a Lucid homepage, archived 2026-03-03, Lucid help centre
Maxx Launch LucidMaxx invite-only tier launched Lucid's risk team invites traders based on their performance history. Lucid publishes no fixed qualification threshold. This original structure was replaced on Oct 5, 2026 and is now filed by Lucid as Legacy LucidMaxx. n/a Lucid help centre, archived 2026-02-28, Lucid help centre, Legacy LucidMaxx Overview, LucidMaxx explained
Pro Worse LucidPro first $10,000 split: 100% to 90/10. Accounts purchased or reset after the cutoff run 90/10 from the first dollar, so resetting a legacy account gives up the 100% first $10,000. Yes. Accounts purchased or reset before 3:00 PM EST that day keep 100% on the first $10,000. Lucid help centre, archived 2025-12-10
Pro Better Funded consistency rule: 35% to 40% for new accounts. Yes. Accounts purchased or reset before 3:00 PM EST that day stay at 35%. Lucid help centre, archived 2025-12-10, Lucid homepage, archived 2025-04-14
Pro Better LucidPro payouts: 10 minimum trading days to 5 profitable days per payout cycle. Lucid's pre-launch LucidPro table listed 10 minimum trading days. By September 1, 2025 its homepage advertised 'Get paid in 5 trading days now with LucidPro accounts', and the help centre required the minimum profit on 5 separate days per payout cycle. Changes that are easy to miss

Some rule changes get announced. Others appear quietly in a help centre page. These are the ones that catch traders out most often:

  • Grandfathering cutoffs with a time of day. Lucid’s November 2025 LucidPro change had a 3:00 PM EST cutoff, and its October 2026 changes a 5:00 PM ET one. An account bought that afternoon is on different terms than one bought that morning.
  • Resets moving you onto current terms. If you hold a legacy account with better terms, a reset usually forfeits them permanently. Check before you reset.
  • Rules that differ between evaluation and funded. LucidDaily’s drawdown selection applies to the evaluation only. The funded account is always intraday. Assuming the rule carries over is the single most expensive misreading in this niche.
  • Consistency rules that reset per payout cycle rather than applying to the account lifetime. The distinction changes whether a big day is a problem or just a delay.
  • Splits that changed mid-history. If your payouts span a split change, your effective rate is not the advertised one. It is the blend of whatever structures each payout fell under.
  • Platform support that quietly disappears. Lucid dropped Project X without a prominent announcement. If a platform was the reason you chose a firm, check it is still supported before you renew or reset.
  • Help centre articles renamed Legacy at the same URL. When Lucid supersedes a structure it keeps the old article live and adds Legacy to the title, so a bookmarked or Googled page can show retired rules under a new heading. Read the title before you trust the content.

Tracker FAQ

How often is this updated?

Firm documentation and pricing pages are checked daily. Community announcement channels are monitored continuously. Firms typically post there 24 to 72 hours before updating their docs. Confirmed changes are usually published within 24 hours of detection.

What counts as a confirmed change?

A change is published only when it is verified against a primary source, meaning the firm’s own documentation, dashboard, or an official announcement, and can be dated. Reports from third-party sites, unconfirmed community chatter, and changes we know happened but cannot yet date are tracked internally but not published in the table. The ones currently pending are named under the table above.

My account has different rules than what is listed. Why?

Most likely grandfathering. Firms frequently apply changes only to accounts purchased after a cutoff date. Check the grandfathered column, and confirm your specific account terms with the firm’s support. The terms attached to your account govern it, not the current public rules.

Does a high change count mean a firm is unreliable?

Not necessarily. Rapid iteration has produced genuine improvements. Lucid’s escrow removal, the shorter path to live, the returned cash-out option and the repeatable live bonus all came from it. But it does mean any review, including ours, may describe terms that have since moved. Always verify at checkout.

Which firms do you track?

Lucid Trading, Apex Trader Funding, Bulenox, TradeDay, Tradeify and Phidias. We track firms we cover in depth rather than attempting the whole industry shallowly. Lucid is fully logged. The others are being backfilled and will each get a section on this page.

Found a change we missed?
