Lucid vs Apex 2026: Which Futures Prop Firm Fits How You Trade

Lucid vs Apex is the comparison most futures traders end up making, because the two firms sit at opposite ends of the same trade-off. Apex is the biggest firm by volume, with 100% of your first $25,000 in payouts, up to 20 funded accounts and near-permanent sales. Lucid is younger and smaller, with end-of-day drawdown, a daily loss limit that pauses you instead of ending the account, payouts approved in minutes, and one plan with no consistency rule once funded. This page compares the two on the rules that decide whether you get paid, on a $50K account, then says who should pick which.

Rules read from both firms’ help centers and stored in our data files with each article’s link. Checkout prices with code SPICY are shown only where verified on . Both firms are SpicyFutures partners and both pay a commission when you use code SPICY, marked where it appears; the comparison does not change with which one you pick.

The short version

  • Pick Lucid if your daily results vary and a big losing day is part of a profitable month, you trade Sierra Chart or another Rithmic platform, you want payouts without a consistency check once funded (LucidFlex), or you want money in the bank the same day.
  • Pick Apex if you want the longest track record and the largest firm, the 100% split on the first $25,000, up to 20 funded accounts, and you can keep every day under 50% of profit since your last payout.
  • The deciding rules: Apex’s 50% funded consistency rule and activation fee against Lucid’s payout caps that never scale and five-payout ceiling on Flex. Everything else is closer than either firm’s marketing suggests.

Every Lucid figure with its source article is on the Lucid rules page and the Lucid payout rules page. Apex’s rules are in the Apex review.

Where Lucid wins

  • The daily loss limit is a timeout, not a kill switch. Every Lucid daily limit is a soft breach; hit it and you sit out the rest of the session with the account intact. Apex’s evaluation limit fails the day’s trading and its funded limit pauses you, but the framing and the price are different: Lucid discounts the account for taking the limit.
  • No consistency rule once funded, on LucidFlex. Apex checks every payout against 50% of profit since the last one. If your month is made in three sessions, Apex delays the payout and Lucid Flex does not.
  • Payout speed. My 13 Lucid payouts were approved the same day, most in minutes, with Plaid landing in hours. Apex works on a weekly cycle and one to three business days after approval.
  • Resets without a clock. A failed Lucid evaluation can be reset any time. An Apex evaluation expires after 30 days and cannot be reset; you buy again.
  • Sierra Chart on Rithmic at no extra cost. Both firms support it, but Lucid lists it plainly and the feed is the only checkout choice you have to get right.

Where Apex wins

  • The split. 100% of the first $25,000 you withdraw, then 90/10. Lucid is 90/10 from the first dollar. On a trader who reaches that threshold, Apex’s edge is $2,500 in the bank.
  • Scale. 20 funded accounts per household against Lucid’s five. For copier traders that is the whole argument.
  • The record. Apex has paid traders for years and is the largest firm by volume. Lucid launched in April 2025 and has changed its rules or lineup at least 11 times since; its rules are excellent today and may differ next quarter.
  • Higher caps late in the account. Apex’s cap on a 50K rises to $3,000 by the fifth and sixth payout. LucidFlex stays at $2,000 for all five.
  • Price during sales. Apex’s discounts are deep and almost constant, which often makes its evaluation the cheaper entry even before code SPICY. The live figure is on the coupons page.

The three rules that decide it

Consistency after funding

This is the biggest structural difference. Apex applies 50% of profit since your last payout to every request; a $2,000 day needs $2,000 of other profit in the same window before it can be withdrawn. LucidPro applies 40% per cycle, which is tighter than Apex. LucidFlex applies nothing. If you know your equity curve comes in bursts, Flex is the only one of the four that does not make you wait; if you take steady, similar days, all three are fine and the split decides.

Caps, counts and what ends the account

Apex allows six payouts per funded account and then closes it; Lucid Flex allows five and then moves you to a live review or a cash-out. Apex’s caps step up, Flex’s do not, so over six payouts on a 50K Apex allows up to $13,000 gross against Flex’s $10,000 over five. The counterweight is Lucid’s five-account limit against Apex’s twenty; traders who run accounts in parallel extract more from Apex, traders who run one or two extract similar totals faster at Lucid.

What a bad day costs

On Lucid’s EOD plans a bad morning that recovers by the close costs nothing; the limit moves on closing balances. Apex’s EOD evaluation works the same way, but its daily loss limit in the evaluation is fixed and hard for that day, where Lucid’s is a soft pause and optional. On Apex’s Intraday plan the limit trails your open profit tick by tick, which is how most funded accounts die industry-wide; Lucid’s only intraday plan is LucidDaily, which this page deliberately leaves out of the table because it is a different product.

Who should pick which

  1. Discretionary trader, variable days, one to three accounts: LucidFlex 50K with the daily loss limit on.
  2. Steady scalper who wants full size immediately: LucidPro or Apex EOD; take Apex if the 100% split matters more than the 50% rule, Lucid if payout speed matters more.
  3. Copier trader running many accounts: Apex, for the 20-account ceiling and the stepped caps.
  4. Sierra Chart or Jigsaw order-flow trader: either, on the Rithmic feed. Lucid’s connection is documented in our Sierra Chart guide; Apex’s in the Apex connection page.
  5. New to prop firms: Lucid, because the soft daily limit and EOD drawdown are more forgiving of the mistakes a first evaluation produces, and because a reset does not expire.

Lucid vs Apex questions

Is Lucid or Apex better for beginners?

Lucid, on the rules: a soft daily loss limit, end-of-day drawdown, and resets with no expiry. Apex’s 30-day evaluation window with no resets punishes a slow start.

Which pays out faster, Lucid or Apex?

Lucid. Approvals in minutes and same-day Plaid transfers for US traders, against Apex’s weekly cycle and one to three business days after approval.

Which has the better profit split?

Apex, for the first $25,000 you withdraw, which is paid at 100%. After that both are 90/10.

Does Apex have a consistency rule?

Not in the evaluation. In the funded account, yes: no single day may exceed 50% of profit since your last payout. LucidFlex has none once funded; LucidPro has 40%.

Can I trade Sierra Chart at both?

Yes, on the Rithmic feed at either firm. Choose Rithmic rather than Tradovate or CQG at checkout.

How many funded accounts can I hold?

Five at Lucid across all plans; twenty at Apex per household.
